ALTMAN, Natan Isaevich Altman studied in the Odessa art school (1902-1907). At the end of 1910 he has visited Paris to complete professional becoming and determine the path in art, and studied at the Free Russian Academy (the Vasilyeva Academy).
At the end of 1912 young artist has moved to St. Petersburg, where for short time became one of the most remarkable artists, peculiarly applying touchs recently engendered in France cubism. Famous "Portrait of poetess Anna Akhmatova" (1914) has consolidated his fame. His essays in the graphic arts were so successful (cycle "The Jewish graphic" on motives of gravestone relief's, 1914). His activity at theatre, work with eminent producers have brought to him reputation of the prominent theatrical painter.
