Liliane Klapisch was born in 1933, Paris where she studied painting. Upon her immigration to Israel she settled in Jerusalem 1969. Her paintings stand on the borderline between abstraction and figuration and alternate between a rich and monochrome (brown to ocher) palette, and between clear-cut geometric structures and free forms, drawn from nature. During an extended period her work was entirely abstract, and even when she began painting from life - interiors and landscapes - these depictions were anchored in a fundamentally abstract conception.
