This 1974 Vintage Poster commemorates Israel’s 26th Independence Day. The poster was designed by Mimi Tamari. The Poster was designed after the Yom Kippur War and was made to symbolize the yearning for Peace. The War erupted on 6th October 1973 and lasted till 24th October 1973. The Armies of Syria and Egypt attacked IDF posts along the Suez Canal and the Golan Hights. In the beginning the attackers managed to reach a few achievements, however, during the fighting the armies of Syria and Egypt were pushed back and the IDF managed to invade Syria and cross the Suez Canal into Egypt. Israel’s casualties in this war were more than 2500 soldiers dead, 7500 soldiers injured, and 300 Israeli soldiers taken as prisoners of War.
